## The Strategic Vision

Canada has arrived at an extraordinary moment.

We possess:
- **World-class public data** (ECCC's verified stranded methane dataset)
- **Proven deployment technology** (mobile Bitcoin mining at scale)
- **Massive capital availability** (federal, provincial, European via CETA, Bitcoin-native, traditional)
- **Urgent climate imperative** (methane destruction is one of the highest-leverage actions available)
- **Competitive advantage through timing** (this moment is now, not five years from now)

**What has been missing is the platform to connect all these pieces.**

We are building that platform. And we are building it with a deliberate, phased expansion strategy that turns Stranded into the operating system for the entire stranded energy economy.

---

## Phase 1: Methane Mastery (Now → Q4 2026)

---

## Phase 2: Multi-Energy Expansion (2027–2027 Q2)

### Strategic Rationale

Methane is not an edge case—it is a proof of concept for a much larger opportunity.

The same architectural principles, scoring logic, and capital connectivity models that work for methane will work for every other form of stranded or curtailed energy. By expanding vertically, we:

1. **Increase addressable market** (from billions to tens of billions in energy value)
2. **Deepen platform moat** (multi-vertical data and scoring become harder to replicate)
3. **Improve capital efficiency** (platforms attract more capital than vertical-specific tools)
4. **Strengthen positioning** (we become the operating system, not just a methane map)

### Coming Energy Verticals

#### Wind & Solar Curtailment
**The Opportunity:** When wind and solar farms generate more power than the grid can absorb, they are literally shut down. This curtailment is increasing as renewable penetration grows.

**Data Sources:** IESO (Ontario), various provincial operators, CAISO data (for benchmarking)

**Scoring Adjustments:** Site attractiveness factors in renewable capacity factor, curtailment frequency, proximity to demand centers

**Economics:** Different from methane (higher power availability, more predictable), same offtaker model (Bitcoin mining)

**Timeline:** Data acquisition Q1 2027, platform integration Q2 2027

#### Remote & Excess Hydro
**The Opportunity:** Remote hydroelectric facilities often have limited transmission, leading to spilled water. Seasonal oversupply is common.

**Data Sources:** Natural Resources Canada, provincial utilities, run-of-river data

**Scoring Adjustments:** Site attractiveness factors in transmission capacity, seasonality, average excess generation

**Economics:** Very favorable (low production costs, high reliability), but weather-dependent

**Timeline:** Data Q4 2026, integration Q1–Q2 2027

#### Industrial Waste Heat & Process Gases
**The Opportunity:** Many industrial sites produce waste heat or low-grade gases that are vented. Manufacturing, oil & gas processing, food production, forestry all have opportunities.

**Data Sources:** Industrial registry data (province by province), regulatory reporting, site-specific surveys

**Scoring Adjustments:** Site attractiveness factors in heat/gas volume, consistency, proximity to end-use or storage

**Economics:** Highly variable by site, but often under-explored

**Timeline:** Pilot mapping Q4 2026, full expansion Q2 2027

#### Biomass & Forestry Residues
**The Opportunity:** Forestry operations generate significant biomass that is often uneconomic to transport. Power generation from biomass is a natural fit.

**Data Sources:** Canadian Forest Service, provincial forestry operations, mill locations

**Scoring Adjustments:** Site attractiveness factors in biomass availability, extraction costs, seasonality

**Economics:** Good for energy generation, moderate for Bitcoin mining (depends on conversion efficiency)

**Timeline:** Pilot Q1 2027, scaling Q2–Q3 2027

#### Behind-the-Meter & Microgrid Opportunities
**The Opportunity:** Any location with distributed generation (solar, wind, hydro) that could benefit from a flexible offtaker.

**Data Sources:** Solar installation registries, microgrids in development, industrial renewable projects

**Scoring Adjustments:** Site attractiveness factors in local generation, consumption patterns, grid constraints

**Economics:** Highly contextual, requires site-specific analysis

**Timeline:** Ongoing, integrated as Phase 2 progresses

### Phase 2 Execution Plan

**Q4 2026**
- Begin data acquisition for all verticals
- Design score adaptations per energy type
- Build out team for expansion work

**Q1 2027**
- Integrate first two verticals (wind/solar curtailment + excess hydro)
- Publish data methodology for new verticals
- Begin pilot partnerships with multi-energy operators

**Q2 2027**
- Platform updates for all five verticals
- Complete federal + provincial funding intelligence mapping
- Launch CETA capital pathways

**Q3 2027**
- Fully operational multi-energy platform
- Active partnerships across multiple verticals
- First multi-vertical portfolio simulators

### Phase 2 Success Criteria

✅ 100+ opportunities active across multiple energy verticals

✅ Operators using the platform for site selection across energy types

✅ Data and scoring gain external validation and adoption

✅ Multi-vertical modeling becomes table stakes for capital discussions

---

## Phase 3: Capital Formation Layer (2027 Q2 → 2028)

### The Strategic Shift

Phases 1 and 2 are about making opportunities visible and modelable. Phase 3 is about making them fundable.

We are shifting from a discovery platform to a capital formation engine.

This is where the real power emerges. Instead of just showing developers "here's a great site," we will show them "here's a great site, here are the five best ways to fund it, and here's what capital is actively looking for deals like this."

### Three Capital Streams

#### Stream 1: Canadian Public Capital
**Scope:** Federal + provincial + territorial funding programs

**What We Will Map:**
- Grant programs (eligibility, application timeline, typical award size)
- Tax credits and incentive programs
- Strategic investment vehicles (SDTC, federal funds, provincial entities)
- Indigenous and community-benefit funding
- Regulatory streamlining and permitting support

**Delivery:**
- Interactive funding intelligence layer in the platform
- Briefing documents per opportunity type
- Application timeline visualization
- Eligibility checker tool

**Timeline:** Foundation Q3–Q4 2026, full integration Q1 2027

#### Stream 2: European Capital (Via CETA)
**Scope:** Canada-EU trade agreement preferential capital access

**Why This Matters:**
The Canada-EU Trade Agreement is one of the most powerful and underutilized levers available to Canadian project developers.

CETA enables:
- **Preferential access** to EU grant programs (Green for Growth, Innovation funds, climate facilities)
- **Trade-facilitated capital** (reduced-risk, preferential terms)
- **Institutional access** (European pension funds, infrastructure allocators, green finance vehicles)
- **Currency flexibility** (Euro-denominated funding for Canadian projects)

There are **$200B+ in committed European green climate capital** actively seeking credible North American energy transition opportunities. Canadian developers currently have poor visibility into these programs and weak pathways to access them.

We are changing that.

**What We Will Map:**
- Tier 1: EU grant programs accessible to Canadian entities
- Tier 2: Trade-facilitated capital and preferential financing
- Tier 3: Institutional European investors actively seeking North American exposure
- Tier 4: Structuring guidance (how to organize a Canadian project to be attractive to European capital)

**Delivery:**
- Grant opportunity inventory (5–10 active programs at any time)
- Multi-language resource center (English, French, German, Dutch, etc.)
- Structuring guidance and case studies
- Direct pathways to European capital partners
- Currency and hedging guidance

**Timeline:** Pilot mapping Q4 2026, full integration and market outreach Q2–Q3 2027

#### Stream 3: Bitcoin-Native & Digital Asset Capital
**Scope:** Mining operations, Bitcoin treasuries, crypto-native funds

**Why This Matters:**
Bitcoin miners and Bitcoin-holding companies are one of the largest emerging sources of capital for energy projects. They have:
- Significant treasury capital
- Direct alignment with stranded energy opportunities
- Flexibility on terms and structures
- Global capital availability

Traditional capital providers often miss this entirely. We will map it systematically.

**What We Will Map:**
- Mining operations with treasury deployment mandates
- Public Bitcoin companies with energy transition initiatives
- Bitcoin-native funds and climate vehicles
- DAO-structured capital
- Payment and settlement infrastructure for BTC-denominated deals

**Delivery:**
- Direct introductions to Bitcoin capital providers
- Hybrid structuring (BTC deployment, fiat returns; or vice versa)
- Mining pool partnership pathways
- Treasury management guidance

**Timeline:** Mapping Q4 2026, structured outreach Q1 2027, ongoing deployment

#### Stream 4: Traditional Infrastructure & PE Capital
**Scope:** Climate-focused PE, infrastructure funds, family offices, diversified allocators

**Delivery:**
- Traditional deal pipeline management
- Multi-year fund visibility and deployment timelines
- ESG metrics and reporting integration
- Standard LP/sponsor structures

**Timeline:** Ongoing, enhanced with platform visibility

### Phase 3 Platform Capabilities

**Funding Matcher**
For any stranded energy opportunity, the platform will show:
- Applicable federal, provincial, and CETA grants
- Estimated funding potential from each source
- Application timeline and success probability
- Multi-currency structuring options

**Capital Mapping Dashboard**
- Real-time visibility into which capital sources are actively deploying
- Investment ticket size, fund size, and deployment timelines
- Direct introductions to capital partners

**Structuring Intelligence**
- Cross-border tax and legal guidance
- CETA-specific optimization
- BTC/EUR/CAD/USD hybrid structures
- Regulatory and permitting pathways

**Talent Marketplace**
- Engineers, operators, project developers, financiers
- Skill-based discovery and matching
- Ecosystem acceleration

### Phase 3 Success Criteria

✅ $500M+ in committed capital deployed through Stranded identified opportunities

✅ Majority of capital sources (federal, provincial, CETA, Bitcoin-native, traditional) actively using platform for sourcing

✅ CETA-facilitated capital becoming a standard funding path for Canadian stranded energy projects

✅ Cross-border structuring (Canadian projects funded by European capital) becoming routine

✅ Talent marketplace shows 100+ active projects in development

## Execution & Team Building

### Team Expansion (2026–2027)

| Function | Q2 2026 | Q4 2026 | Q2 2027 |
|----------|---------|---------|---------|
| Platform & Engineering | 2 | 4 | 6 |
| Data & Analysis | 1 | 3 | 5 |
| Capital Partnerships | 1 | 2 | 3 |
| Government Relations | 0.5 | 1 | 2 |
| Operator Engagement | 0.5 | 1 | 2 |

*Note: Team size is less important than team quality. We are hiring for expertise, judgment, and long-term commitment.*

### Capital Strategy

**Operating Budget:** Funded through Phase 1 pilots and early institutional support.

**Growth Capital:** We will raise when we have demonstrable traction (Q4 2026–Q1 2027). At that point, the platform will be proven, partnerships will be active, and the capital narrative will be clear.

**Strategic Investors:** We are particularly interested in:
- Foundations with energy transition mandates
- Impact investors with climate focus
- Strategic corporate investors (utilities, mining operations, energy companies)
- Government funding vehicles (provincial investment arms, etc.)

---

## Timeline at a Glance

| Phase | Period | Core Focus | Success Metric |
|-------|--------|-----------|-----------------|
| **1. Methane Mastery** | Now → Q4 2026 | Discovery + modeling for methane | Platform adopted by operators, capital pipeline visible |
| **2. Multi-Energy** | 2027 | Data + scoring expansion | 100+ projects active across verticals |
| **3. Capital Formation** | 2027 Q2 → 2028 | Funding + capital intelligence | $500M+ deployed, multi-source capital flowing |

---

## The Bigger Picture

This roadmap is not about building a larger company. It is about building infrastructure for an entire new asset class.

By 2028, we expect:

- **Stranded energy** to be a recognized, liquid, investable category
- **Multiple funding pathways** (federal, provincial, CETA, Bitcoin-native) to be standard options
- **Operators and capital providers** to use multi-energy scoring and modeling as table stakes
- **Canada** to be globally recognized as the capital of stranded energy project origination

This is possible because:
1. The data exists and is public
2. The technology is proven
3. The capital is ready
4. The climate urgency is undeniable

What has been missing is the platform and the connective tissue. We are building both.

## Closing

Stranded energy represents one of the largest opportunities of the next decade. Not because of hype or marketing. But because:

- The data proves the opportunity exists
- The technology proves capture is feasible
- The economics prove returns are real
- The capital proves the market is ready

Canada is uniquely positioned to lead.

Stranded is the platform that makes that leadership visible and actionable.

This is Version 1.0 of our roadmap. It reflects our thinking in June 2026 and our confidence in these phases.

As we execute, we will learn, adapt, and evolve. But the core direction—from discovery to modeling to capital formation—will not change.

The work begins. The best is still ahead.
