CETA Funding Pathway
Interactive wizard for Canadian-EU trade agreement aligned cleantech capital. Estimates only — verify with program officers.
The EU Funding Strategy
Beyond CETA, the primary path is a Horizon Europe Pillar II · Cluster 5 grant (€2.5M–€15M) via a cross-Canada–EU consortium. Canada is an associated country — eligible on the same terms as EU entities. Two documents carry the full case.

Horizon Europe — Cluster 5
The flagship EU research grant for climate, energy and mobility. Canada is an associated country, so a cross-Canada–EU consortium applies on near-EU terms.
EUREKA / Eurostars
International SME-led research and development, and Canada is an eligible country. The Canadian share is paid through NRC IRAP.
EU Innovation Fund (ETS)
Funded by EU carbon-allowance revenue. Europe's biggest clean-tech money, built on CCS and net-zero technology — a direct fit for methane.
EIC Accelerator
Europe's deep-tech scale-up instrument: grant plus direct equity for breakthrough startups. Sits outside Canada's association.
LIFE — Clean Energy Transition
EU programme for coordination and support on the clean-energy transition — market uptake, investor readiness, policy support.
EU Global Gateway
The EU's strategy to mobilise up to €300B+ for clean, secure infrastructure in partner countries — a co-investment lever rather than a grant.
EU Methane Reduction Support
EU financial support announced at COP28 to cut methane — and the 2027 Methane Regulation makes importers verify gas intensity, a demand-side tailwind.

What type of organization are you?
Hire EU engineers. Tap EU capital.
One decision — forming an EU entity — opens both lanes at once: a fast talent lane to bring European engineering into Canada, and a capital lane that unlocks the EU instruments a Canada-only company can't touch. Here's how the two sides of the same move work.
- ·Global Talent Stream — work permit in ~2 weeks for specialized tech/in-demand occupations. The fast lane for software, electrical and mechanical engineers.
- ·Provincial Nominee Programs — BC PNP Tech, Alberta AAIP and Ontario OINP explicitly list mechanical, electrical and civil engineers; a practical path to permanent residence.
- ·Intra-company transfer (needs no labour-market test) — moves staff from our EU entity to Canada quickly. The same entity that unlocks the capital lane.
- ·EIC Accelerator — up to €2.5M grant + €10M equity, for a deeper-EU startup once our European arm relocates its activity there.
- ·EU Innovation Fund (ETS) — €1.8M–€216M for a CCS / net-zero demo hosted in Europe, channelled through the EU entity.
- ·Horizon Cluster 5 (31 Mar 2026) — the flagship €2.5M–€15M consortium grant, accessible from Canada via our EU partners.
Verified methane, sold to Europe
From 1 January 2027 the EU Methane Regulation will require importers to prove the methane intensity of the gas they buy. That turns our measure → verify → document engine into a commercial inset product — verified abatement from our Canadian sites, sold to EU importers. Not a grant pitch: a business.
